Ronny Sompie Delivered Five Points in DGICM

Director General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights. Ronny F Sompie delivered five points in the 23rd Meeting of ASEAN Directors General of Immigration Departments and Heads of Consular Affairs Divisions of Ministries of Foreign Affairs/ DGICM held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar (19-21/8).

This meeting also was attended by representatives of ASEAN Secretary and Australian Government, as stated in press release, Wednesday.

Ronny F Sompie as head of Delegation of Indonesia delivered several points; firstly, Indonesia reaffirms and strengthens the commitment of terrorism prevention as declared in Declaration of Prevention of Transnational Terrorism in the 20th DGICM in Bali, 2016.

Secondly, since ASEAN often were used as transit countries before reaching the destination country, it is important to strengthen the cooperation and to share information in preventing human trafficking masking as asylum seekers or job seekers by syndicate of human trafficking to Europe, United States of America and Australia

Thirdly, since 2018, Directorate General of Immigration has already saving 14.576 Indonesian suspected becoming the victims of human trafficking and this issue is seriously address by Directorate General of Immigration.

Four, the commitment of Indonesia in strengthening the border cooperation by building seven Cross Border Point bordering Malaysia, Papua New Guinea and Timor Leste.

Five, related to Immigration service, Indonesia has operated special auto gate designated for citizens of member of ASEAN in International Airport Ngurah Rai Bali.

This privilege for ASEAN citizens is aimed to establish relationship between ASEAN countries.
