Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian Citizen

TRAVEL DOCUMENT IN LIEU OF A PASSPORT FOR INDONESIAN CITIZEN

1.    A Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen is granted to an Indonesian citizen under certain circumstances, if Ordinary Passport cannot be granted;

2.    Certain circumstances as referred to in point 1 include:

a.    when the citizen is returned to Indonesia after his/her ordinary Passport has been revoked by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia when he/she was abroad; and

b.    when the citizen is returned to Indonesia for the reason that he/she stay in other country illegally without the Travel Document of the Republic of Indonesia.

  1. The Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen as referred to in point 1 is valid for entering the Indonesian territory;
  2. A Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen is granted to an Indonesian citizen under certain circumstances, if Ordinary Passport cannot be granted;
  3. The Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen as referred to in point 4 is valid for entering the Indonesian territory;
  4. Request for a Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen is submitted to the Minister or to an Immigration Officer who is appointed in the Representative Office of the Republic of Indonesia;

7.    Issuance of a Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen is submitted to the Minister or to an Immigration Officer who is appointed in the Representative Office of the Republic of Indonesia;

8.    The issuance of the Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen as referred to in point 7 is conducted by the Immigration Officer;

9.    In the event that the Representative Office of the Republic of Indonesia has no Immigration Officer as referred to in point 8, the issuance of the Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen is conducted by an Indonesian Foreign Service Officer;

  1. A Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen lasts no longer than 2 (two) years and can only be used for 1 (one) trip;
  2. The Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport for Indonesian citizen cannot be extended.

 

PROCEDURE

  1. The designated Immigration Officer conducts the examination stages of the person concerned to determine his/her citizenship;
  2. The designated Immigration Officer enters the data, that is resulted from inspecting and determining the reason for the person to obtain the Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport, into the Immigration Management Information System;
  3. After the data is entered into the Immigration Management Information System, the process continues to the payment of the Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport fee;
  4. The Immigration Officer is required to take photographs and fingerprints;
  5. The designated Immigration Officer may continue the process of issuing the Travel Document in Lieu of a Passport to the verification and adjudication stage in order to match the applicant's biometric data with the database that is stored in the immigration data centre.
