Jakarta: Foreigners can apply for an Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) before arriving in Indonesia. The holder must use the visa within 90 (ninety) days after issuance. Sub-coordinator of Public Relations of the Directorate General of Immigration, Achmad Nur Saleh, stressed that the validity of an e-VOA to enter Indonesia differs from the e-VOA stay permit validity.

"We discovered many misunderstandings in the community regarding whether the validity period of e-VOA is 90 days or 60 days. First, we underline that the 90-day visa validity is before foreigners enter Indonesia. It is the time limit when e-VOA is good to enter Indonesia after the date of issuance. Meanwhile, the validity period of an e-VOA stay permit is 30 days starting from the foreigner entering Indonesia and can be extended once for the next 30 days. Hence, the total is up to 60 days," explained Achmad on Monday (20/02/2023).

Achmad gives an illustration: a foreigner outside Indonesia applied for an e-VOA (website: molina.imigrasi.go.id) on 20 February 2023 and was granted an e-VOA on the same day. So, the latest date the foreigner can enter Indonesia using the visa is 21 May 2023.

"Then, the e-VOA stay permit of 30 days is started from the time the officers at the Immigration Control (TPI) at the airports, seaports, or cross-border posts stamp an entry mark on the foreigner's passport," he said.

The e-VOA stay permit extension can be done online through the website molina.imigrasi.go.id. The procedure flow is similar to applying for a new e-VOA. Foreigners do not need to upload an Indonesian entry stamp because their data is already recorded in the immigration system. After verifying that all the information is valid, the foreigner will proceed to the payment page, where the foreigner can use a credit or debit card with the Visa, Mastercard, or JCB logo.

"If you have received an e-VOA stay permit extension in an electronic document, foreigners no longer need to come to the immigration office. So, save more time and energy. As long as there is a smartphone and internet connection, foreigners can extend their e-VOA stay permit anywhere, everywhere," he concluded.

Jakarta: Unlike the regular Visa on Arrival (VOA) extension procedure at the immigration office, foreigners can extend their Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) online through the website molina.imigrasi.go.idSimply with a smartphone and an internet network, foreign nationals who use e-VOA can apply for stay permit extensions anytime and anywhere in Indonesia.

"For extensions, it is more practical if foreigners use e-VOA. Access molina.imigrasi.go.id, fill in the form provided, and proceed to the payment page. Payment can be made using any credit or debit card with Visa, Mastercard, or JCB logo on it," explained the Public Relations Sub-coordinator of the Directorate General of Immigration, Achmad Nur Saleh, on Wednesday (15/02/2023).

Foreign nationals using e-VOA do not need to show their entry permit stamp affixed to their passports at the Immigration Control (TPI) in airports, seaports, or land border cross. The immigration system automatically records foreigners' data.

"We need to advise that foreigners can only extend e-VOA if they have entered Indonesian territory, and also not recommended to extend it while foreigners have just entered Indonesia. We say this because we received many questions on the communication channels for this information and public complaints," he added.

At the same time, the regular Visa on Arrival service for foreigners at the VOA counter at the arrival area of the airports/seaports is still available. This service is intended to facilitate foreign nationals who urgently or unexpectedly have to come to Indonesia and internet network access is unavailable.

Foreigners using regular VOA who want to extend their stay permit must prepare a copy of their entry sign in their passport and present a ticket to leave Indonesia; they must apply for the visa extension at the immigration office. Foreigners can extend their VOA at any immigration office throughout Indonesia.

Unlike the usual Visa on Arrival application which is submitted immediately after the foreigner enters Indonesian territory, the Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA) can be submitted from anywhere via molina.imigrasi.go.idAs with eVisa, e-VOA applications can be made no earlier than 90 (ninety) days before the Foreign Citizen (WNA) arrives in Indonesia.

"The validity period for using e-VOA is 90 (ninety) days at the latest from the date of issuance. This means that foreigners can apply for an e-VOA no later than three months before the date of arrival in Indonesia. The e-VOA user can stay for 30 days from the time the entry stamp is placed on the passport," explained the Public Relations Sub-coordinator of the Directorate General of Immigration, Achmad Nur Saleh, on Thursday (15/12/2022).

Even though the submission of an e-VOA application is relatively flexible and the issuance time is fast, Achmad advised foreigners not to make an application in the middle of their trip to Indonesia. This is to ensure that the foreigner has actually held the e-VOA before arriving in Indonesia.

"There were several cases found by e-VOA applicants whose requests were a little delayed, especially when making payments. This is usually caused by the card being rejected by the bank, wrong CVV, wrong PIN or the previous bill has not been paid. It is better to make an application before foreigners leave their country of origin because they can anticipate these risks," he said.

In certain urgent situations, for example when foreigners must immediately make sudden visits for business meetings but there is not enough time, foreigners can still apply for a Visa on Arrival offline. VoA counters in the arrival areas at an airport and seaport continue to serve Visa on Arrival applications offline.

To apply for an e-VOA, foreigners need to prepare a softcopy of their passport biodata page (JPG/JPEG/PNG format), a passport-size photo of themselves (JPG/JPEG/PNG format) and a debit/credit card bearing the Visa/Mastercard/JCB logo. The card used for payment does not have to be in the person's name, as long as the card is valid and has a 3D Secure System so that it can be used for international transactions.

Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA), which was officially opened on November 10, 2022, provides convenience and flexibility to foreign nationals who wish to travel or have business visits to Indonesia. In order for foreigners to be able to apply for e-VOA smoothly, some of the following detailed requirements and application procedures need to be considered carefully. "Based on the information received from the public complaint and information service team, a number of e-VOA applications experience problems because the format of the documents uploaded by the applicants was incorrect. For example, passport biodata page documents must be in image format (JPG/JPEG/PNG), but many upload them in PDF format," explained the Public Relations Sub-coordinator of the Directorate General of Immigration, Achmad Nur Saleh, Wednesday (14/12/2022).

Achmad informs applicants, both foreigners and Indonesian citizens, applying for e-VOA to read the information and guidelines listed on this page https://molina.imigrasi.go.id/front/faq.In addition to the application guide, the page also provides a list of 86 countries of e-VOA subjects along with a list of Immigration Checkpoints (TPI) as the point of entry for e-VOA holders.

"For payment, foreigners can use a debit/credit card bearing the Visa, Mastecard or JCB logo. The card used does not have to be in the name of the applicant, but make sure the card has a 3D Secure System and can be used for international transactions," he advised. The use of appropriate payment instruments greatly influences the smoothness of the e-VOA issuance process. If the applicant has ensured that the card used is correct but is still experiencing technical problems, the applicant can contact Live Chat www.imigrasi.go.id or E-Mail humas@imigrasi.go.id to ensure the status of the application and problem resolution procedures.

"In general, problems with e-VOA payments occur because the applicant's means of payment has been declined by the bank. As confirmed by some of the banks, the causes include incorrect CVV, wrong PIN, expired card or unpaid previous bill. In this case, the applicant will be asked to resubmit their application," he said.

JAKARTA (06/12) – The bogus website to apply for the electronic visa on arrival (e-VOA) https://www.indonesia-evoa.com appears in the top searches of the Google search engine. Foreigners are asked to be cautious. The e-VoA officially took effect from Thursday (10/11/2022), which was regulated in the circular letter of the Acting Director General of Immigration number IMI-0764.GR.01.01 of 2022. During the trial period on 4 – 9 November 2022, 1,719 e-VOA were issued, and 378 foreigners entered Indonesia using e-VOA through Soekarno-Hatta and I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

"Just like the e-VOA payment mechanism, foreigners can also make payments through the payment gateway mechanism on this fake site. It is considered a cybercrime, and we are coordinating with related agencies to address this case," Explained Acting Director General of Immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana.

Previously only citizens from 46 countries were eligible for e-VOA. Later, following the issuance of regulations regarding the addition of countries, there are foreigners from 86 countries who are vulnerable to being the target of fraud on the fake e-VOA website. The e-VOA is valid for tourism, government assignments, business talks, purchase of goods, meetings, and transit purposes. The VOA can be extended once for another 30 days.

"We remind you again, the official website for e-VOA application is only at molina.imigrasi.go.id. The fake website www.indonesia-evoa.com was created by irresponsible individuals to make profits," Widodo concluded.

JAKARTA – 7 South Korean (South Korean) citizens are suspected of misusing Visas on Arrival (VoA) to work. Immigration officers secured the South Korean citizen on Monday (21/11) after holding a talent search event at a shopping center in Jakarta.

Acting Director General of Immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana revealed that the foreigners who abused VoA for work were a creative team from a production house. They were employed in Indonesia to work in a talent search event broadcast live on KBS Korea television station.

"The six creative team members are using VoA. They were hired by two South Korean citizens, one a VoA holder and the other a temporary stay permit holder (KITAS). In total, we have secured eight South Korean passports," said Widodo in Jakarta on Tuesday (22/11/2022).

Widodo's statement was in response to a video circulating in the community showing officers taking the four South Korean citizens forcibly. After further investigation, they admitted that they were instructed by the agent who brought them to Indonesia to pretend they didn't know about their visa condition when immigration officers took them.

"So far, the officers' actions have been according to the procedure because there was resistance from the foreigners. However, I still ordered the Immigration Law Enforcement Director to review and inspect the immigration officers who were on duty then," Widodo explained.

Widodo added, "If in the future elements of abuse of authority are found by officials, we will impose sanctions on them in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations."

Widodo also ordered the Director of Immigration Supervision and Enforcement to take firm steps by examining the agents/administrators who sponsored the four South Korean citizens according to the law.

JAKARTA – Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VoA) can be used for 90 days since the date of issuance. This is the meaning of the "valid from" and "valid until" on e-VoA. This is also what distinguishes e-VoA from conventional VoA.

"So like e-visa, e-VoA holders have the opportunity to use the e-VoA within 90 days. It can be seen in the valid from and valid until information on each e-VoA," explained the Public Relations Sub-coordinator of the Directorate General of Immigration, Achmad Nur Saleh.

E-VoA (molina.imigrasi.go.id) has officially been effective since Thursday (10/11/2022), which is regulated in a circular letter of the Acting Director General of Immigration number IMI-0764.GR.01.01 of 2022. Previously, during the trial period on 4 – 9 November 2022, 1,719 e-VOA had been issued and 378 foreign nationals using e-VOA had entered Indonesian Territory through Soekarno-Hatta and I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

In contrast to the number of countries using conventional VoA (86 countries), only 46 countries can enjoy e-VoA facilities, including Australia, South Africa, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark. , Finland, Hungary, India, England, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, South Korea, Lithuania, Malaysia, Morocco, Mexico, Egypt, Norway, Oman, France, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, New Zealand, Singapore , Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Timor Leste, China, Tunisia, Turkiye, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates and Greece.

There are 17 Immigration Checkpoints, both the airports and seaports designated to facilitate e-VoA. Six of them are airports, namely Juanda, Surabaya; Kualanamu, Medan; Ngurah Rai, Bali; Sam Ratulangi, Manado; Soekarno-Hatta, DKI Jakarta; and Yogyakarta. The remaining 11 are seaports in Riau Islands, namely: Bandar Bentan Telani Lagoi, Bandar Seri Udana Lobam, Batam Center, Batu Ampar, Citra Tri Tunas, Kabil, Senimba Bay Marina, Nongsa Marine Terminal, Sekupang, Sri Bintan Pura, and Tanjung Balai Karimun.

E-VoA payments are made non-cash through a payment gateway mechanism. Foreigners can pay using a mastercard/visa/JCB debit/credit card.

"Just like conventional VoA, e-VoA is valid for 30 days and can be used for six types of activities, namely tourist visits, visits for government duties, visits for business talks, visits to purchase goods, visits to meetings and transit. The maximum extension is one time, for the next 30 days, "concluded Achmad. Foreigners with the intention of activities outside the scope of this are welcome to apply for the type of visa according to the provisions.

Foreigners holding Visa on Arrival can stay longer in Indonesia by extending their residence permit at the nearest immigration office. This was conveyed by the Director of Immigration Stay Permits, Yunidar Pramella Pasaribu, during the inspection of the G20 Immigration Checkpoints at Ngurah Rai International Airport on Tuesday (15/11/2022).

Pramella explained that foreigners can stay longer, a total of 60 days, by applying for a stay permit extension at the immigration office where they live. Extensions can be made before the expiration of the stay permit.

“Pemegang VOA diberi izin untuk tinggal di Indonesia selama 30 hari dan bisa memperpanjang izin tinggalnya selama 30 hari ke depan dengan memperpanjang izin tinggalnya. Untuk perpanjangan tersebut dikenakan biaya sebesar lima ratus ribu rupiah,” jelas Pramella.

"VOA holders are given permission to stay in Indonesia for 30 days and can extend their stay permit for the next 30 days by extending their residence permit. For this extension, a fee of five hundred thousand rupiah will be charged, "explained Pramella.

After making a payment, the applicant will undergo a process of taking photos and fingerprints. If the process of extending the residence permit is complete, the applicant can take his passport back. Pramella advised the applicant to apply for an extension a few days before his stay permit expired so as not to be subject to an overstay fine of IDR 1,000,000 per day.

JAKARTA – Belum sepekan diluncurkan total WNA yang telah memperoleh persetujuan e-VOA sejak 7 November hingga 12 November sebanyak 5.141 orang. Hal ini disampaikan oleh Subkoordinator Humas Direktorat Jenderal Imigrasi Achmad Nur Saleh di Bali pada Senin (14/11/2022).

Achmad merinci data orang asing pemohon e-VOA pada 7 November sebanyak 547 WNA, 8 November 649 WNA, 9 November 629 WNA, 10 November 1.097 WNA, 11 November 1.402 WNA, dan 12 November 817 WNA.

“Warga negara asing dapat mengajukan permohonan e-VoA melalui website molina.imigrasi.go.id.
