Jakarta: The British music group Coldplay has experienced the ease of music and art visas after launching in September 2023. The Director General of Immigration, Silmy Karim, said that Coldplay's coming was the right moment to introduce Indonesia's new visa type.
"The government is trying to make Indonesia a significant destination for international activities and events. "For this reason, the Directorate General of Immigration has issued a music and art visa with concise requirements and easy online application, said the Director General of Immigration on Tuesday (14/11/2023).
Now, international artists who will hold music concerts in Indonesia no longer need to attach a labour permit, a Police Record Certificate (SKCK) or a certificate of at least five years of work experience. Silmy explained that the requirements for foreign artists were simplified because they only had activities in Indonesia for a short time.
"Work carried out by foreign group bands or singers in Indonesia also does not have a competitive effect on local workers. Apart from that, there is no SKCK (Police Record Certificate) abroad, so if it were required, it would be unusual. "You can apply for a music and art visa directly by the event organizer or sponsor via the website evisa.imigrasi.go.id," he said.
In detail, the music and art visas issued to Coldplay and their crew consisted of four music performer visas (index C7A) and 158 music performer's crew visas (index C7B).
"We support Indonesia to become a music and arts tourism destination. Indonesia has many tourist spots with beautiful nature and a unique culture. Consider that more and more people (foreigners) are coming here to watch music concerts. In that case, we will open up opportunities for them to explore other fascinating spots of Indonesia, thereby bringing in foreign exchange. "Apart from that, Indonesian citizens also don't need to go abroad to watch concerts," he concluded.
