  • Foreign Nationals may be granted a change of status from Temporary Stay Permit (ITAS) to Permanent Stay Permit (ITAP) based on a request.
  • The application for the change of status from ITAS to ITAP must be submitted at least 30 days before the expiration of the ITAS period.
  • The application for the status change from ITAS to ITAP is submitted by the Foreign National, Sponsor, or Responsible Party through an application to the Head of the Immigration Office.
  • The change of status from Temporary Stay Permit (ITAS) to Permanent Stay Permit (ITAP) can be granted to Foreign Nationals holding ITAS engaged in activities:
  1. as a worker;
  2. as a clergyman/clergywoman;
  3. foreign investment;
  4. family reunification;
  5. repatriation;
  6. the second home consists of:
  1. second home;
  2. special expertise;
  3. personage;
  4. individuals aged 60 years or older.

General Requirements:

  • legal and valid National Passport;
  • integration statement, except for children under 18 years old and unmarried;
  • relevant Foreign National's ITAS;
  • proof of sponsorship from the Sponsor in case of having a Sponsor;
  • identity card and/or family card of the Sponsor or Responsible Party in case of having a Sponsor or Responsible Party;
  • ITAP of the spouse, husband, father, mother, or child, in case of joining the spouse, husband, father, mother, or child who is an ITAP holder.
Specific Requirements:
  1. The specific requirements for changing status from ITAS to ITAP refer to the visa application requirements with the visa destination index. Details of the mentioned requirements can be viewed on the Indonesian Visas page.
  2. For the change of status from ITAS to ITAP that requires a commitment statement, it is also necessary to provide proof of commitment fulfilment, such as
  • bank statements for the last 3 months;
  • updated company deed;
  • latest property tax (Pajak Bumi Bangunan) receipt;
  • latest financial report;
  • latest corporate tax payment receipt;
  • recent income statement;
  • latest bond certificate;
  • updated stock ownership;
  • or other evidence that explains ownership in the name of the Foreign Nationals and supports the intention or purpose to stay in the territory of Indonesia.
  1. For the change of status from ITAS to ITAP that requires a commitment renewal, it is also necessary to provide proof of commitment renewal, such as
  • proof of company legitimacy;
  • proof of employment permits;
  • proof of religious activities' legitimacy;
  • latest bank statements;
  • updated company deed;
  • latest property tax (Pajak Bumi Bangunan) receipt;
  • latest financial report;
  • latest corporate tax payment receipt;
  • recent income statement;
  • latest bond certificate;
  • updated stock ownership; or
  • any other evidence supports the intention and purpose of staying in the Indonesian territory.

  1. Acceptance of application submission
  2. Taking a photograph
  3. Verification of immigration fee payment following the provisions of laws and regulations
  4. The Head of the Immigration Office or designated Immigration Officer forwards the application to the Director General.

Note:

  • The Immigration Office will electronically notify the Foreign National, Sponsor, or Responsible Party that the application documents have been received. 
  • If there are errors or deficiencies in the attached documents, the Immigration Office will electronically notify the Foreign National, Sponsor, or Responsible Party to rectify or complete them within 2 days from the notification date. The application will only be accepted if updates are made during this period.

  • The application is forwarded by the Head of the Immigration Office to the Director General of Immigration within a maximum period of 3 working days from the date the immigration fees are received. The Director General of Immigration decides within a maximum of 5 working days from the date the application is received by the Director General of Immigration.
  • The virtual Temporary Stay Permit is electronically sent to the Foreign National, Sponsor, or Responsible Party.
