Five Days, 222 Monitoring: Bali Becik Task Force Cleans Bali from Violations by Foreigners

A team from the Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia, which is part of the Bali Becik Task Force, carried out operations for five consecutive days to monitor foreigners' compliance with immigration regulations in the Bali region, Indonesia. This operation will be carried out from 31 October to 3 November 2023 and involves three teams stationed in the Ngurah Rai, Denpasar and Singaraja areas.

Surveillance on the first day (Tuesday, 31 October 2023) was carried out at 16 places in the Ngurah Rai, Denpasar and Singaraja areas.

In Ngurah Rai, of the 60 foreigners screened at six venues (including Pullman Bali Legian Beach, Bollywood Masalaz, Queen's of India, Clubmed Bali, Finn's Beach Club, and Rob Peetoom Hair Spa), only six required further action. On this occasion, four sponsors and the foreigners were given Notes of Appreciation for their compliance with Indonesian immigration regulations.

Likewise, the Bali Becik Task Force in Denpasar has not found any immigration violations by foreigners at five immigration control points on the first day of operations. The five places include PARQ Ubud, Yoga Barn, Atman Collection, USHA CAFÉ & BAKERY, and PT. CHEWING GUM. The Task Force also gave Notes of Appreciation to five sponsors and the foreigners who complied with immigration regulations in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, in Singaraja, oversight was carried out at five places, including LES Village, Ulami Bali Guest House, PT. Edicha, and Green Hills Partners. On that occasion, no violations were found by foreigners, meanwhile six sponsors and the foreigners were rewarded with a Note of Appreciation by the Bali Becik Task Force in Singaraja.

"At the first day of operation, there was a relatively small number of immigration violations and we are optimistic that this is due to the increasing awareness of foreigners in complying with applicable immigration regulations," explained the Director of Immigration Supervision, Safar M. Godam, last Tuesday (31/10/2023).

During the five days of operation, the Bali Becik Task Force team carried out a total of 222 inspections at 43 points spread across the Bali region which is the working area of the Ngurah Rai Special Class I Checkpoint Immigration Office, Denpasar Class I Checkpoint Immigration Office, and Singaraja Class II Checkpoint Immigration Office.

Of this number, only nine foreigners required further treatment from the local immigration office, because they committed violations such as not being able to show travel documents (passport), activities that were not in accordance with their residence permit or addresses that did not match the application. This operation also provides space for appreciation of compliance by giving 54 Notes of Appreciation to foreigners and sponsors for their compliance to the immigration regulations.
Supervision of Foreigners by the Bali Becik Task Force is the government's effort to maintain foreigners' compliance with immigration regulations, as well as ensuring that their presence in Indonesia complies with applicable regulations.
"With the Bali Becik Task Force, we are trying to make Bali free from violations by foreigners," concluded Godam.
