Denpasar Immigration Deports 1 Russian for Abuse of VOA to Work as a Photographer in Bali

(Denpasar-09/03) Denpasar Immigration Office is again taking firm action against foreign nationals (WNA) who violate immigration rules in Indonesia. A foreigner from Russia with the initials SR (44) was returned to his country for abusing his stay permit by becoming a photographer in Bali.

"From the investigation results, it was proven that the person concerned had misused his stay permit by carrying out activities as a photographer while in the Bali area. SR became a photographer and uploaded his photos on Instagram. The person concerned entered Indonesia through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport using a Visit Visa on Arrival (VKSK/Visa on Arrival) on January 27, 2023," said the Head of the Denpasar Immigration Office, Tedy Riyandi, on Wednesday (08/03/2023).

The 44-year-old male was secured under the supervision of the Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Team (Inteldakim) through social media regarding allegations of foreign nationals carrying out activities unfit for their stay permit purposes.

For the actions that have been carried out, the person concerned will be subject to Article 75 paragraph (1) of Law Number 6 of 2011 on Immigration, that the Immigration Officer has the authority to carry out Immigration Administrative Actions against Foreigners who are in Indonesian Territory who carry out dangerous activities and should be suspected of endangering security and public order or of not respecting or disobeying laws and regulations.

The foreign national has prepared a return ticket to his country, so the Denpasar Immigration Office deports the person to his home country.

Immigration invited the public in the Bali Province to proactively monitor and report various violations or should be suspected of violating the regulations committed by foreign nationals to the authorities so that strict action can be taken. All Immigration Offices have a complaint service that can be utilized to report a suspected abuse of stay permits.
Meanwhile, all foreigners visiting Bali should always behave in an orderly manner by respecting the laws and cultural values of the Balinese people because any violations will be dealt with strictly to uphold the country's integrity.

"Please come to the island of Bali and enjoy all its natural beauty but always observe the rules applied," said Baron Ichsan, the Head of the Immigration Division of the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
