Three Available Options to Collect your Passport

JAKARTA – Passports that are not collected within one month after issuance will be canceled. This is regulated in the Regulation of the Minister of Law and Human Rights No. 18 of 2022 on Ordinary Passports. In fact, there are quite a few passports that are canceled because they have not been collected by the applicants within that period for various reasons. As a result, applicants of canceled passports must re-apply after receiving a Cancellation Letter if they want to get the passport back. "We have found many cases of passports being canceled because they have not been collected by the applicants for more than one month. In cases like this, applicants must obtain a Cancellation Letter first before being able to re-apply for a passport," explained Achmad. On the other hand, not many people know that passport applicants do not have to come in person to collect their passports. There are several ways to ensure that the passport is safe and secure in their hands without having to collect it in person. Here are some options: 1). Applicants can authorize passport collection to a relative whose name is listed in the same Family Card, by bringing proof of payment, a copy of the Family Card and the identity card of the relative; 2). In the absence of a relative from the same Family Card, passport collection can be authorized to other person by bringing a Power of Attorney signed on a Rp. 10,000 stamp duty, proof of payment, and identity card of the person authorized; 3). Applicants can also have their passport sent via delivery service by PT POS Indonesia available at the Immigration Office. Most immigration offices have collaborated with postal services for the delivery of issued passports. Applicants can go directly to the postal outlet available at the immigration office by bringing proof of payment and a Rp. 10,000 stamp duty after completing the biometric recording and passport interview session. "Passport delivery service via Post Indonesia is not yet available at every immigration office," said Achmad. The availability of this service can be confirmed to officer at the immigration office after the passport interview and biometric recording process carried out. "The passport applicant will be charged around Rp. 35,000 by PT Pos for this service fee. Then just sit back at home and wait for the passport to be delivered by the postal officer," concluded Achmad.
